Frenemies With Benefits - Chapter One

Happy Saturday to everyone!  I hope everyone had a fun Halloween.  My boys had a great evening dressing up as a Zombie Hunter and Steve from Minecraft ( a video game all the kids play).

With Halloween behind us I think it is time to start the Christmas shopping.  I actually saw one HOA in town already putting up Christmas lights this morning, which is over kill to say the least.

As promised, below is the first chapter of Frenemies With Benefits, due out mid November.

Enjoy!

Frenemies With Benefits

Chapter One
Izzy sat in the corner of the noisy club.  Her feet were killing her from the stupid heels, her friends had insisted that she wear.  She slid the strappy stiletto off and moaned from the pleasure of her feet being freed.  She rubbed her foot and scanned the room.
The club was big and flashy.  All the men were in dress pants and button down shirts and all the woman wore barely there dresses.  The music was thumping loud.  Her head pounded along with the beat.  She usually loved clubs, however, this was the third club they had been to tonight.  It was nearly three in the morning and she was beyond done.
Spring break or not she wanted to go back to the hotel and sleep. Unfortunately, her friends, Roni and Gracey, were having too good of a time to even think of going to bed. Well, at least too much fun to go to bed alone.
Gracey had come on this last spring break trip for the sole reason to get laid.  She was on a mission to slut it up one more time before she had, to ‘become a real adult’.  Roni on the other hand only wanted to find a guy to bump and grind with on the dance floor.  And maybe a romantic walk on the beach.  As for Izzy, all she wanted was to get a tan and hang out with her best friends.
Izzy slowly lets out a breath, rolling her head to stretch her neck, she closed her eyes.  “Mind if I have a seat?”  A deep voice asked from behind her.  She opened her eyes turning to the voice.  Her jaw dropped when she saw the man that stood before her.  Standing there was a Viking god.  Short spiked dirty blond hair and striking green eyes.  He had to be at least 6’5”, compared to her 5’1” stature he was a giant.  His muscles were visible through his dress shirt.  Which was unbuttoned at the collar, with the cuffs rolled up.  Her pulse had instantly picked up.
He coughed and nodded toward the chair.  Izzy had been busted checking him out.  “Sorry, yes, please have a seat.”
“Thanks, this is the only empty seat in this place.  I figured we were in the same boat so maybe you would be amicable to my plight.”  The Viking god mused, totally confusing Izzy. He nodded at her shoes.  “Your shoes, my feet are killing me too.  I was ready to go an hour ago, but my buddy thought he saw the love of his life when a girl walked by.  He went chasing after her.”
The Viking rolled his eyes at his friend’s antics and she laughed, why she had no idea, it wasn't even that funny.  “Well, I was ready to leave two hours ago but my friends have decided that more liquor and bad pick lines were a good enough reason to stay.”  She smiled at the man and went back to rubbing her feet.
The waitress sashayed her way over to their table, eyeing her new found friend the entire time.  Funny the waitress could have cared less about Izzy before the Viking came over.  Izzy noticed the waitress was arching her back so her boobs stuck out more.  She snorted a little and shook her head, turning her attention back to her feet.
“May I get you anything?”  The waitress purred in her sexy accent.
The man smiled.  “Why yes, can you get my wife and me each a coke and maybe a bag of ice?”  He took Izzy’s foot and started to rub it.  “Anything else, honey?”
Izzy smiled, a real smile, at his craziness. “No, baby.”  She turned her smile on the waitress, whose shoulders had visibly slumped at the realization her target was ‘married’.
“I’ll be right back.”  The waitress walked away, no sway in her step this time.
When the waitress was out of view, Izzy shot her new ‘husband’ a look of amusement and curiosity.  “Sorry, thanks for helping.  We were here last night and she came on to my friend with extreme force.  The poor guy is still recovering. I didn't want to deal with that.  And I figured you get a foot message out of it.”  He winked.
She smiled.  “So I was your human shield?”
“A human shield I am paying back with a fantastic foot rub.”  He pushed his knuckle down her foot, almost causing her to moan.
“Fantastic, may be stretching it, but I guess that is payment enough.  I should tell you my name though, you know, since I’m your wife and all.  I’m Isabella Newport, my friends and make believe husbands, call me Izzy.”
~*~*~*~
“Well, I think you have your name wrong.  It's Izzy Porter.”  Alex smiled big.  This girl was fun and smart. Something he rarely found. “I insist my wife take my last name.  I am a little old fashion that way.  “I’m Jeremy Porter.”
Alex hated lying about his name, but now that he was the CFO of a high profile company he had learned that lying about his identity to someone he had only just met was the best play.  If someone Googled ‘Jeremy Porter’ nothing would come up.  If someone Googled Alex Porter on the other hand, his entire life now came up including his massive net worth.
They sat quietly for a few moments.  Her naturally curly hair was attempting to free itself from the twisted knot thing she had it in.  He looked his fill, not his usual type that was for sure.  She was a tiny thing.  He could twirl her around in the air with his pinkie.  The lights of the club bounced off her glasses.
Normally he would never have noticed a pixie bookworm like herself.  Something about her, the moment he saw her sitting alone, drew him to her.
“I think I need to know more about my dear husband.  Where are you from Jeremy?”  She asked with a smirk.
“I am so disappointed, my own wife doesn't remember I am from Colorado.”
“Really?  Me too.  What part?”
Well, shit!  That complicated his random vacation hook up.  “Denver, I grew up in the suburbs.  Now I live downtown. Where about in Colorado are you from?”  Please say Durango, Vail, anywhere but Denver.
“I am living in Boulder right now.  I have a couple more months before I graduate from the University of Colorado.  My girlfriend and I are moving down to Denver after graduation, though.”  She shrugged.
The waitress finally dropped off the cokes and ice pack.  Alex handed the waitress $50 to cover the cokes and a nice tip.  He took the ice pack, covered it in a napkin and ran it along Izzy’s foot.
“Oh, that feels good.”  She moaned.
He had to take a deep breath after hearing that sound.  He would love to hear it later tonight, in his bed.  He cleared his throat.  “Are your feet feeling better, my dear wife?”  He needed to go back to being the jokester to clear the lust out of the air.
“Yes, my darling husband you give great foot rubs. I think we should…”
He leaned into her desperately wanting to hear the end of that sentence. “Dude, I have been looking all over for you. Let’s go.  That girl I was looking for turned around too fast at the bar and spilled her fruity red drink all over me.  Now I look as though I have been shot.”  Derek stated as he walked up to the table still rubbing a napkin on his shirt.  “Oh, sorry, I didn’t see your friend. I will find my way back to our hotel.  Night.”
Derek was his best friend in the world, but the guy had no tact.  Luckily for Alex his friend at least knew when to leave quickly.  He turned to Izzy to apologize, only to see her laughing.  “What’s so funny?”
“I think it was my friend who spilled her drink on yours.  She has a habit of spilling drinks, tripping, burning dinners, she is the definition of clumsy.”  She started laughing again.  Not the well-practiced high pitched laugh, he normally heard from women.  Her laugh was natural, goofy even.  Which made him smile.
“Seriously?  Your friend is some kind of walking disaster zone?  Does she have a warning label taped to her?”
She laughed again, this time snorting a little.  “No, but that is a good idea it would save innocent people like your friend.”
They sat and talked for another hour or so.  Talking about nothing and everything.  He rubbed and iced her feet.  She yawned.  “As much as I have enjoyed being your wife, I think it is time for a divorce.  I need to find my friends and get some sleep.”  She put her shoes back on and stood. “It was very nice meeting you Jeremy.”  With a big smile and a small finger wave she started to walk away.
Alex’s mind panicked.  He wasn't ready to let her go.  Before he could think it through he blurted out, “Can I see you again while you’re here?”  He winced at how desperate he sounded.
Izzy stopped and smiled.  “How about dinner, tomorrow night?  I am staying at the Bahia Hotel.  Meet me in the lobby at seven.”  She kissed his cheek and disappeared into the crowd.
~*~*~*~
Normal everyday Izzy would never be standing in a hotel lobby- dressed in a short white and pink sundress that dipped way too far down her cleavage - waiting to meet a man for dinner she had met less than twelve hours earlier.  Vacation Izzy decided to have a little fun.  She had promised her friends she would not leave the resort with Jeremy under any circumstances.
They would dine in one of the resort restaurants, and if that went well they would have drinks in one of the clubs.  Again, she wasn't being stupid, she wanted have a little fun, not get herself murdered by a handsome stranger.  She leaned back against one of the columns in the lobby, watching the doors for Jeremy.
She startled and turned when someone placed a large hand on her shoulder.  She saw the man she had been waiting for.  He looked delicious in a suit, minus the tie.  The collar of his white dress shirt was open as it was last night, exposing the hollow of his throat.  She resisted the overwhelming urge to lick him there.  "You scared me."
"Sorry."  He smiled sheepishly, "I'm staying at the resort as well.  I came from the elevators."  He nodded his head back toward the elevator bay. His eyes caressed her body.  "You look incredible."
His comment warmed her heart.  "Thank you, you look good yourself."
He kissed her cheek, a playful look crossing his face.  "How was your day, wifey?"
Izzy giggled.  Placing her hands on his chest, she smiled up at him.  "It was wonderful.  I got to take a run on the beach.  How was your day, dear husband?"
"Ah, you’re a runner?  Me too.  Much easier at sea level.  Maybe we can do a run together tomorrow." He glanced at his watch, "I made reservations for us at the patio restaurant in the hotel"
He placed his hand on the small of her back and led her through the lobby to the restaurant.  He kept his hand on her until they were at the table. He pulled her chair out and waited for her to be seated before seating himself.  Someone had trained this man well in manners.
They talked and laughed while they ate.  They made fun of the goofy couples around them, who were actually on honeymoons.  They shared a childish sense of humor.  Izzy had to admit that this had been the best date she had been on ever.  They clicked.
He was digging into his dessert.  She had no idea how the man could eat another bite, but he seemed intent on tasting everything on the menu.  With a bite of chocolate cake in his mouth, he pointed to the cake with his fork and mumbled, “Want some?”
She shook her head, smiling. “No thank you I already ate way too much.”
“So you graduate in two months with a double major in education and English, what are your plans after you are handed your diploma?”   He asked still talking around the bite of cake.
“I already have a job lined up in the Denver School District.  Roni, my overly clumsy friend from last night, and I signed a lease on a house near Wash Park for after we graduate. That is as far as my plan goes.”
“That sounds like a good start.  You have the basics covered, a job and a roof over your head.”  He winked at her.  He put down his fork and reached across the table, taking her small hand in his much larger one.  “Now, that we have totally gorged ourselves, or I gorged myself, you managed self-control, do you want to go to the club?  Or go sit by the pool?”
“How about a walk on the beach?”  Izzy even surprised herself with that request. She knew this may be a very dumb move, but for some reason she trusted Jeremy.
“That sounds wonderful.  I can walk off some of this meal.”  He stood and held out his hand to help her up.
She took his proffered hand.  “Wait, we need the check” That would have been embarrassing if they left without paying.  She looked around for the waitress.
Jeremy tugged her hand to get her moving.  “When I made the reservation I asked that they simply charge the meal to my room.”
Izzy pulled her hand free and searched around in her purse.  “Well, let me give you some money for my share then.”  She continued to dig in her purse in search of her cash, until he put a finger under her chin, forcing her gaze to meet his.
He looked amused.  “I believe I asked you out on this date, therefore it is my treat.”  He leaned in and brushed a soft, much too quick kiss over her lips.  He stood back to full stature and pulled her from the restaurant.
~*~*~*~
Alex had planned to take Izzy to a club after dinner.  That way he could use the pretense of dancing to have his hands on her small body.  The walk along the beach was far better.
Once they hit the beach, they stopped briefly to remove their shoes, he rolled up his pants.  He looked at her quickly taking in the sun dress she had on.  Most women he dated dressed in barely there clothing.  He liked her modest sun dress better.
Walking hand in hand down the beach her hair blew in the slight breeze.  “How long are you and Derek here for?”
“For another few days.  We had business at the beginning of the week and a few more meetings here and there the rest, leaving us a little bit of time to squeeze in a mini vacation.”
“I bet you guys work hard and deserve a little vacation time.”
They had stopped to look out into the ocean.  The breeze picked up, Izzy shivered a little.  Being brought up to be a perfect gentleman, Alex shrugged out of his suit jacket, placing it around her.  Placing her in front of himself, he wrapped his arms around her and began rubbing her arms. “Better?”
“Mmmm, yes.  Thank you.”
They stood quietly for a bit.  Alex enjoyed how she felt in his arms.  She was so small that she barely came up to his chest. Izzy had leaned further back into him and he had wrapped his arms tighter around her.  She sighed, when he kissed her hair.
“I’m having a great time, Izzy.  I am so glad that the chair was open last night.”  He whispered into her hair.
“Me too.  Who knew my desperation to take off my shoes could lead to meeting a man as wonderful as you.”  She said as she turned in his arms.  She stroked his chest, leaning back in his arms a little to meet his eyes.
He couldn't stop himself from leaning down to kiss her.  The soft kiss he had taken as they left the restaurant was barely a taste.  Alex needed more this time.  His lips met hers.  His system was attached by more than the usual lust that accompanied a kiss.  No, what shot through his system was a need to keep this small woman forever.
Luckily he had no time to ponder the need to have this woman forever, because her tongue entered his mouth.  Her tiny fingers clenching tighter into his shirt, bringing his body closer to her own.
He rubbed his hand up and down her back, then coming to rest on her hip bones.  They kissed and caressed for moments or hours, he had no idea.  He had never enjoyed kissing a woman so much.  Usually he only kissed a woman long enough to get her turned on enough to take her clothes off.  Not that he didn't want to get down and dirty with Izzy, he planned to.  However, Alex preferred to take his time with her.  Enjoy the slow burn caused by making out on a beach.
She pulled back.  Her eyes glazed over, a sexy smile across her face.  “You’re very good at that.”
“I’m good at a lot of things, just wait.” He nuzzled her neck a little before looking into her eyes again.
She bit her bottom lip. He could tell she was mulling over her next move.  He decided to give her time.  Keeping his hands on her hips, not wanting to break the connection between them.  Alex hoped they would be moving this kissing session to one of their hotel rooms.

Unfortunately, Izzy thought different.  With a shake of her head and a roll of her eyes, she padded his chest gently.  “I think it is time we call it a night."

Cover Reveal - "Frenemies With Benefits'

Happy Saturday!  Wow what a whirl wind of a month!  Between school assignments requiring costumes and Halloween coming up I have been a sewing demon getting the boys ready for all of their school projects and looking great for Halloween.

I have also spent a lot of the month clicking away on my keyboard, finishing 'Frenemies With Benefits'.  I am on track to release the book mid November.  Writing Alex and Izzy's story has been a fun challenge.

Next Saturday, I plan to release chapter one on my blog so stay tuned for that.  For now you will have to settle for the cover for the new novel.

Have a great weekend!

Break Over

Wow! What a whirlwind of a week.  The kids going back to school is exhausting for moms :) Every night has been met with a need for more school supplies, including a trumpet that had to be rented by the next day.

I took a break from Izzy and Alex these past two weeks.  I couldn't "see" how a plot point should carry on...I guess you could say writer's block kicked in big time.  I think I have finally figured out the point I was stuck on.

My goal is to have "Frenemies With Benefits" published on Amazon by the end of October or first week of November.  I am committed to meeting that goal.

Time for all of us to grab a drink and relax!  Enjoy your weekend.

Title Announcement!

I hope everyone is having a very lazy Sunday in preparation for the long work week.  If you are anything like me, you are counting down to the start of football season!  Only a few weeks left until we get to see men in tight pants grace the field...at least for preseason.

I have been working hard on book 2 of the Geek to Chic series, halfway done! Whoo Hoo!  The big announcement for the week is that I finally figured out the perfect title while working on one of the chapters.
Drum roll, please!  Izzy and Alex's story is officially title "Frenemies With Benefits."  I'll let you take your own meaning from that title!

Enjoy your week! :)

Apology

Happy Saturday Everyone!  I want to apologize for the last upload of Falling into You.  When I converted the file into the proper format, something went very wrong.  Words were combined and letters were added to the end of some other words.  Very odd things.  My doc file was clean so not sure what went wrong. Technology hates me what can I say lol.

I am sorry for this ugly version of my book that those who purchased it during the sale received.  I have corrected the problem.  :)

I would love to announce that I have made great strides on Alex and Izzy's story, but I spent the week reading books instead of writing.   I hope to have another snippet for you next week...and hopefully a title.

Enjoy your weekend!

Falling Into You on Sale for $0.99!

The first book in my Geek to Chic series is on sale on Amazon for $0.99!  Grab your copy now while the sale is on!

Falling Into You
Roni Atlas has never been a smooth woman.  Sure, she is a bombshell to look at but she is also a walking disaster.  She is the definition of clumsiness.  Her clumsiness is usually only harmful to her. However, shaken up after being fired by her sexually harassing boss, Roni trips and falls into the man she lusted after for six months.  After a quick conversation she stumbles away from the man of her dreams.

Derek Callaway is gorgeous, rich and successful.  Well, now he is.  His high school days were filled sitting in front of a computer screen and getting teased at school for being a small nerd.  When Roni bowls him over on his way to an important meeting he is tongue tied.  He has been staring at her every morning at Stabucks for months.  Too bad she fleas before he can ask her out.

Luckily, fate steps in giving Derek the opportunity to hire Roni as his assistant.  Giving him a reason to be with her everyday.  Will his CEO persona push her away?  Will her clumsiness do them both in?

***This book contains steamy scenes between a former geek turned hotty and a clumsy woman that will knock your socks off.  As well as a few laughs and  cringe worthy moments of total clumsiness.  We can’t forget the best friends who may or may not kill each other.***

Snippet - Izzy and Alex

Happy Thusday!  I have done so much this week!  Between hail storms, pool time and my regular job, I have been writing like a mad woman! Izzy and Alex's story (the title is still in the works) has been flowing amazingly!

Here is a small snippet!

At some point, Alex had moved to the bed, lay next to her on his side.  His hand moved to her belly.  “This means we have two choices.  One, try very hard not to be at the same social events, or two, get the anger out of our systems.”
“Somehow I doubt you are suggesting we throw on boxing gloves and go a few rounds.”  Izzy reasoned, turning on her side to face Alex.  His hand moving from her belly to her hip with her movement, pulling her close to his body again.  “The idea does have merit, however, I would hate to have to explain to Derek why his CFO is in a coma.”

Giving her that damn panty dropping smile of his, he shook his head a little and laughed.  “No, I can’t say I am into those types of sports in the bedroom.  I am suggesting that there is a thin line between hate and lust.”  Pulling her leg over his hip, he leaned in close to her, whispering, “I think you and I have some unfinished business. I say we finish that business.  Fuck each others brains out a few times.  When we feel we have crossed that line from hate to friendship we stop the bedroom activities.  Parting as friends and allowing the rest of our group the luxury of not having to worry about bloodshed every time we share space.”

When Inspiration Hits, Go with It.

Yesterday was not my day to be productive.  LOL  Every work project, chore, or chapter I started was left behind, forgotten and unfinished, as I moved onto the next task.  My focus level equivalent to a toddler surrounded by to many toys.

That is, until I woke up at one in the morning.  Shooting out of bed, I ran to my laptop.  I will say a laptop seems to take forever to load when you need to get an idea out before it's gone.  The chapter I attempted to struggle my way through earlier in the day, eventually giving up in frustration, was suddenly writing itself.

The ideas flowed quickly and easily!

I wrote into the wee hours of the morning.  The skeleton of G2C (Geek to Chic) Book 2 is almost complete. The scenes are either in my notebook ready to be written or down on paper (or computer as the case may be).

Stay tuned next week for another sneak peek of G2C Book 2.....

Have a fantastic weekend!

Summers should not be this busy

Remember when you were a kid, and the only responsibility you had during the summer was to be home by the time the street lights came on?  I long for those days.  The freedom of getting on my bike and heading out on adventure, even if it was only to the local pool, with my friends.

Now, as a mom, summers mean playing taxi driver and hostess to the neighborhood kids in between my 9-5 job and my real passion of writing.  So far this weekend we have gone to Comic Con Denver (yes I am raising my kids in all things geek), went shopping for stuff to send the older boy off to camp, volunteered for the local fair and had a birthday party for my younger son....and it is only Saturday :)

I have managed to relax a little by writing Izzy and Alex's story.  As promised here is a little taste of the couple who seems to be plotting each other's murder at every turn.

To set the scene, it is moving day for Roni and Izzy.  Alex decides he needs to help after Izzy has been ignoring him....

“Alex what are you doing here?”  Roni questioned him suspiciously as she gave him a welcoming hug.
“Since Derek was helping you get settled, I figured I would lend a hand to Izzy.”  Alex shrugged.  He had been trying to get Izzy alone with him to finish their discussion since the Gala.  Unfortuanltey, she wanted nothing to do with him.
His texts and calls had been met with a level of hostility usually saved for terrorists.  He had even learned a few new four letter words.  He knew his chances of ever getting her to forgive him were slim to none, yet, here he stood in her living room ready to get slapped again.
Roni assessed him for a moment. “Fine, but you be nice to her.  Or I won’t do that data analysis you need on the forecasts.”  She threatened, poking him in the chest with each word.
He laughed.  “Um, Roni, I’m your boss you have to do the analysis no matter how I behave.”
“True, but I don’t have to present it for you.  So, be nice!”  Her pale face scrunched into what she must think was a threatening look.
“Fine, I promise to be nice.”
With one more huff, she walked away.  Leaving him to go bother Izzy.  His favorite pass time.  He walked to her bedroom door.  Walking right in without knocking, because he knew it would get a reaction from her.  And right now he was dying for any type of attention from her.
“What the fuck are you doing in my room?  Did your mother only teach Derek manners?” Izzy huffed at him.
He smiled, finally she was acknowledging him again.  He walked over and sat on the corner of her bed.  Bouncing a little to test the springs.   “Nice bed, pixie.”
“Glad you think so, but this will be the only time you ever see my bed.”  She stood as far away from him as she possibly could get without leaving the room.
“You’re being so mean to me, and I am only here to help you settle into your new place.  Where are we moving to anyway?” He continued talking as though the look on her face didn’t give away, she was plotting to murder him in a very creative way.
“Why?”
“Why what?” He leaned forward and peaked into the box sitting at his feet.  His hand was immediately slapped away.
“Why do you want to help me settle into my new place?”
“I’m a nice person, helping a friend out comes with the territory.”  He tried to peak in the box again.  This time she snatched the box away.  “Is that your box of panties?”  He wiggled his eyebrows at her.
She blushed.  “Ugh, you are such a pain.  I can settle in by myself.  Now, go away.” She set the box down.  Putting two rows of packaging tape over the top.
“You didn’t answer the question, where are we moving you to, today?” He moved back and rested his head against the headboard, with his hands behind his head.
She let out a heavy breath.  “Since you have decided to be such a dear friend all of a sudden.  I am moving into the Spire building on 14th Street.”
That had Alex’s attention.  “Really, what floor?”
A few month’s ago Roni and Izzy had lost a bet over a pool game, forcing Izzy to make dinner for him at his home.  A night spent arguing over everything except the big elephant in the room.  That night was the last time he had kissed her.  A kiss that proved the passion between them was not left in Cabo.  A kiss that also ended with him on the floor clutching his family jewels.  Yeah, he had misread that situation.
A few months later, he sold his house because it was to big for only him.  He had purchased the penthouse in the Spire building.  Sometimes he loved the way destiny intervened.  The best part was she had no idea she was moving into his building.
“9th floor.”  She mumbled as she continued to tape the boxes.
Five below his own.  “Should I start taking these boxes into the living room to make life easier on the movers?”
“Fine.  The boxes with the pink duct tape are mine.  The ones with the yellow duct tape are Roni’s.”  She was always so organized.

He picked up a couple of boxes, including the one with her panties in it, taking them  into the living room.  A shit eating grin on his face.

Rain, Rain Go Way!

I have to say my grass looks incredible from the rain, the boys aren't fairing as well however.  Rain means no pool, no hiking and no bike riding! Leaving them video games and me extra time to write!

Book 2 of the Geek to Chic series is coming along nicely.  We met hostile Izzy and playboy Alex in book 1. Some people have love at first sight, these two had hate at first sight.  Or was it second sight?

Alex and Izzy have been hiding a past with each other from their friends for months.  A past that Izzy wants nothing more than to punish Alex for.  A past that Alex wants to make up for.

Stay tuned to my blog in the coming months for teasers from the upcoming -soon to be titled- book 2 of the Geek to Chic series.

Falling Into You

Happy Friday to everyone!  After sitting at my laptop every night (ok almost every night) writing and rewriting my first novel for months, I have released on this book on Amazon!  Here is a little taste.  Happy reading!

Alex just smiled and sauntered into the bar.  Rolling his eyes, Derek followed.  Stopping short when he saw the vision at the bar. Starbucks Girl was here sitting at the bar.  He always saw her in conservative business attire.  Tonight, however, she was wearing a pair of tight jeans that perfectly showed off her curves, a blouse with a very low neckline, and heels that could best be described as fuck me pumps.  Her long blonde hair fell over her shoulders in a wave.  His brain started to shut down as it no longer had dibs on his blood supply.  Alex turned with a devious smile on his face. “We are not leaving this bar without you at least getting her name, getting her naked would be better."
"Naked right here in the bar?" Derek asked wondering what was wrong with his friend.
"Don't knock public sex until you've tried it." Alex had no modesty.
"Seriously?  What kind of girls do you date?” Derek held up his hand stopping Alex from answering. “Never mind I don't want the answer.  I can see the answer written all over your face." Derek took a deep breath. "Fine I will talk to her but you are to either go to the other side of the bar or shut the fuck up.  I don't need you hitting on her friend. We both know that will kill any chance I have." Derek knew exactly how it would end if Alex even spoke two words to the friend.  Alex would screw Starbucks Girl's friend in the back of the bar and leave.  Derek would be left to receive the angry slap from said friend or Starbucks Girl herself, or both.  Hey it had happened before.
Leaving Alex to follow, laughing as he did, Derek grabbed a shot from the shot girl, downing the liquid courage quickly. He approached Starbucks Girl from behind. Leaning in close to her ear and speaking before she realized he was there. "I see you have recovered nicely from your fall and consequential molestation of my body." He tried for seductive but was sure desperate nerd came out.
Starbucks Girl must not like people in her personal space, because she whirled around so fast he thought her head was going to spin right off.  In the process though, her elbow met his nose in a fast hard hit sending him backwards.  He tried to catch himself, but gravity was a cruel bitch.  He landed on the table behind him sending drinks flying.
"What the fuck?” Barked the guy whose table he had just made a landing pad. Suddenly, Derek was on his feet courtesy of What the Fuck Guy yanking him up by his white dress shirt.  "Do you have a problem, man?" Great he had to land on steroid boys' table.
"Dude, chill.  Clumsy Barbie over there all but broke his nose simply turning around.  If you are going to blame anyone blame her." Alex interjected, failing in his attempt not to laugh.  “Isn't that right sweetheart?" Oh, no! Alex should have just let him take the punch and kept his mouth shut because now What the Fuck Guy was still holding tight to his shirt, deciding if he was telling the truth or not and Starbucks Girl looked as though she was going to do more than break Alex's nose.

"What did you just call me? Clumsy Barbie?" Fire lit her eyes as she stood going toe to toe with Alex. Was it wrong that Derek was turned on by that look in her eyes? Laughing, What the Fuck Guy dropped his fist from Derek's shirt, turning to watch the show.  Straightening his shirt Derek grabbed the ice wrapped in a bar towel from the waitress.  Thanking her, he ordered the table another round and himself a beer, then joined the other guy to watch this small spit fire verbally bitch slap Alex for a bit.  Maybe coming to the bar was not such a bad idea after all.
